Eco Choice takes a life-cycle approach to certifying products and services

This way, we ensure that every aspect of production, usage, and disposal aligns with the highest environmental standards and you can shop with peace of mind.

Often referred to as a ‘cradle to grave’ approach, the process also helps businesses identify environmental hotspots in their value-chains and can inform the redesign or improvement of products and services.

Eco Choice Aotearoa is a member of Life Cycle Association of New Zealand (LCANZ).

Bridging global standards with local impact

Eco Choice Aotearoa is a member of the Global Ecolabelling Network (GEN) with ‘sister’ ecolabels in important export markets.

The ecolabel follows International Organization for Standardization global principles and procedures for Type l ecolabels (ISO 14024). However, we ensure our standards are tailored to deliver practical solutions based on New Zealand’s unique market realities

Eco Choice Aotearoa is highly regarded by Green Building Councils and the United States Environmental Protection Agency.

Updating and creating product standards

We strive to ensure that our standards are up to date with the latest changes to regulations and innovations in industry. Our standards are reviewed every three to five years, but if changes occur outside of this time schedule, we will review the standard appropriately.

To support businesses in adapting to new challenges, Eco Choice may also develop new standards tailored to local market needs.

Advancing our circular economy

A circular economy reimagines the traditional ‘take, make, waste’ model, keeping resources in use for as long as possible. By designing products for longevity and ensuring that at the end of their life they can be disassembled, repaired or repurposed, rather than ending up in a landfill.
