Daiken Southland Limited

Daiken Southland Limited is a subsidiary of Daiken Corporation, a Japanese company specialising in the manufacture and supply of wood-based construction materials.
Environmental considerations and sustainability are at the forefront of Daiken’s business model with many operational initiatives in place to support this.
Daiken Southland Limited (formerly Dongwha New Zealand Limited and previously Rayonier NZ) have been producing Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) since 1997 when the manufacturing plant was initially constructed just north of Invercargill.   Sales of MDF into New Zealand are made direct from the Mataura plant as well as through The Laminex Group, and out of our Auckland Sales office.

In 2015 the product range was expanded with the addition of a melamine press. The capability to sell both raw board and melamine faced board, sold as Daiken Southland Whiteboard, makes Daiken Southland Limited the only fully integrated MDF to melamine operation here in New Zealand. Melamine board, a low pressure laminate board is widely used in a variety of industries including cabinetmaking and kitchen manufacturing and is noted for its high durability and scratch resistance.
